Avon Insurance Company Supports Safe Teen Driving

Bearingstar Insurance donated $4,500 to Mourning Parents Act, Inc, according to The Avon News.

An Avon insurance company donated $4,500 to Mourning Parents Act, Inc (IMPACT), a Coventry-based non-profit organization that promotes safe teen driving, according to The Avon News.

Bearingstar Insurance President Tom Pozzo told The Avon News that he hopes the donation will further support IMPACT's mission of educating teens and help extend their regional outreach efforts.

"This is just the beginning of what I hope will be a very productive partnership that I am convinced will make a significant impact on safe teen driving," Pozzo told The Avon News.

IMPACT's mission is "to eliminate tragedies caused by inexperienced drivers through awareness, education and legislation," according to the non-profit's website.

The organization is made up of people who have lost "teenage family members or friends" in car accidents or who have survived a teen motor vehicles accident themselves, IMPACT's website states. The volunteers travel around the region to give talks about their personal experiences and educate teens about "statistics, risk factors, what happens to the body in a crash, what the states are doing to protect them and what they can do to protect themselves and their friends," according to the website.
