How Will You Spend Time with Your Valentine?
A list of upcoming Valentine's Day events.
Are you the type of person that wants to plan a Valentine's Day with special flare for your loved one or are you so tired that you want to sit at home and watch the movie, Valentine's Day?
You don't have to travel too far. Here are some events in Avon from today through Tuesday that you might consider attending with your Valentine.
Thursday, Feb. 9
- The Farmington Valley Arts Center is hosting "For the Love of Art," a gallery showing of romantic art at noon.
- Wine and Valentine's starts at the arts center at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 11
- For the history buffs, Howard Wright, an Abe Lincoln re-enactor, will visit the Avon Senior Center to do a one-act "first-person" account of the nation's 16th president called "1863: Lincoln’s Remarkable Year" at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
- Chrissie and John D'Esopo are opening their home and hosting an exquisite Be Our Valentine dinner to benefit Gifts of Love at 6 p.m. It costs $100 per person. The menu includes hors d'oeuvres, orange-rosemary chicken served over herbed rice, candied ginger scones, garden salad with vinaigrette, spinach-basil orzo salad, lemon beet gelatin molds, seven kinds of cookies, and wine and non-alcoholic punch. - There will be a Murder Mystery Dinner at the Church of Saint Ann at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $38 for dinner and the show.
- Avon Youth Service Bureau is hosting a St. Valentine's Day Day Social for Avon Middle School students on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Avon Senior Center. Dress to impress. There will be a DJ, games, contests, prizes, snacks and soft drinks. Admission is $10 at the door and adult supervision is provided. Call 860-409-4396 for more information.
Monday, Feb. 13
- Need a last-minute gift for your art-loving Valentine? For the Love of Art continues at the Farminton Valley Arts Center at noon.
Tuesday, Feb. 14
- For the Love of Art continues at noon at the Farmington Valley Arts Center.
- If you don't have plans, but are interested in the future of Avon's town center, the Planning and Zoning Commission may be voting on the proposed Avon Village Center plan. There will be a public hearing at the 7:30 p.m. meeting at Town Hall.
