The company describes Jake's as "modeled after the great American roadside burger joint," such as existed along Route 66 "back before there was such a thing as fast food."

The franchise was established in Deleware in 1991, and Jake's Franchising LLC is currently headquartered in Cheshire, CT. Delaware Today readers voted for Jake's as the burger joint with the Best Burger in Delaware from 2007 to 2009.

Each month, Jake's features a new burger and shake, and the restaurant also offers homemade potato chips, as well as hot dogs and sandwich selections.

The franchise used to be called Jake's Hamburgers, and its name changed in August 2010 to Jake's Wayback Burger.
