Please Take a Moment of Silence for Christopher May

The family of Christopher May will receive friends tonight at the wake. Keep reading for more information and other recent news in Avon.

Good morning, Avon.

It's been a busy week for a number of reason, chalk full of news.

But before you start another hectic day of work, getting the kids ready for school or whatever else you have going on, I'd like to ask everyone reading to pause for a little while. Please take a moment of silence for Chris May

My thoughts are with the family and I wish them my deepest sympathies.

Whether you knew him as the freshman member of the Avon Town Council, your longtime dentist, your Cub Scout leader, your coach, your teacher, your friend, or as a loving husband and father, please share your fond memories of him and condolences in the comments (and if you do, please be respectful).

Calling hours for his wake will be on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at  the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center at 301 Country Club Road in Avon.

His funeral service will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Valley Community Baptist Church on 580 West Avon Rd. in Avon.

In other news, congratulations to Avon Assistant Town Manager Steve Bartha for accepting a new job as town manager in Lenox, MA. His last day in Avon is Sept. 6.

Also, congratulations to Mike Golic Jr. of Avon for being signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers

One more day until Avon schools start again. Are your ready, parents and students? This letter from Avon Superintendent Gary Mala to parents has a lot of useful information to get you prepared.

Whether today is a day of mourning, celebration, pre-school year jitters or just a normal day in the middle of the week, Avon Patch wishes you all the best. See you again tomorrow!
