Reviews: What Do They Matter?

So it has been a couple of months since my debut novel, Isabel's Awakening, was released and now it is time to share the reviews.  Every writer fears reading reviews, what if people hate your book?  What if someone really rips it apart on Goodreads or Amazon?  Can you hunt them down and torture their houseplants?  Good news for fancy ficus plants every where because the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.  I had expected at least a couple of three star this book is only so-so but was blessed with kind readers who have excellent taste, lol!  The Goodreads average rating has stayed steady at 4.77 and Amazon reviewers give it a 5! I posted one of the reviews below so you could see what I am celebrating this month.  I can only hope my next book gets such positive feedback!  Which by the way I am almost done with and sending off to the publisher this week.  I am excited but still have no plans to quit my day job.  Writing smexy novels is very rewarding but I would be lying if I implied it in anyway pays the bills.
As promised here is a recent review
"Isabel Warren and Thomas Morgan are worlds apart. She's a high-school teacher at a school filled with at-risk teens. He's the singer/guitarist fof the world famous rock group, Becket.

Isabel and Thomas meet by chance when Izzy stops in at the local bookstore and her inner klutz comes out. They meet when she falls into his arms. Sparks fly immediately and Thomas is impressed at how unimpressed Izzy is of him. But Izzy's world consists of teaching her kids and completing her thesis, so she doesn't know who Thomas is or the extent of his fame. Once she hears him singing, however, she realizes she's familiar with his music, just unfamiliar with individual members of his group.

Izzy doesn't know she's in for the ride of her life, both on Thomas and with him. Though she's afraid she'll get hurt in the end, she refuses to eschew her opportunity to really live for ince in her twenty-four years.

Isabel's Awakening was romantic, wicked and fun. Izzy was a strong heroine with spirit and independence. The awkwardness and uncertainty most of us feel at the beginning of a new relationship waa realistic, allowing me to connect even more with her. Hot Bristish Guy, Sex God, Sci-fi Fan, and "Mere Mortal", Thomas is a dream and he was more than happy to show Izzy all sides of himself.

I must say I did vacillate between 4 and 5 stars because I wanted more of Thomas' perspective. By the end, however, Ms. Hassett gave me the perfect combination of Izzy and Thomas, and I felt as if I knew Thomas as well as I knew Izzy.

This is a tale wrought with emotion, a couple of surprises, loads of passion and a bunch of humor. I was slightly disappointed at the abrupt ending and would've liked to have seen Thomas interact with his parents and perhaps have some closure. Despite that, this is a book I highly recommend and is well worth the time.
