So, You Got Yourself a Publisher, Now What?

Avon, Connecticut. April 2013- Well, I think you tell everyone about it!  I am Tiffany Hassett local resident but I write under the name T.D. Hassett.  I am pleased to announce my first novel will be published through Liquid Silver Books later this month.
The book launch party (there has to be a party, right?) will be held at Countryside Park in Avon on May 5th.  Interested readers should stop by between 4 and 7 p.m. for book signings, a brief reading and good cheer.

So now I figure if you've read this far you probably want to know what the book is about.  Well, “Isabel’s Awakening” follows local urban high school teacher Isabel Warren as she falls helplessly in love with superstar bad boy Thomas Morgan.  The story combines traditional romance elements with social commentary and a pinch of mystery to create an intoxicating brew of can’t-put-it-down story telling. Local residents will recognize regional landmarks in the book as they are seduced by one woman’s journey of discovery.  This novel asks readers to contemplate the age-old question of how do you stop yourself from falling in love?

So, why did I start writing romance novels?  Funny you should ask.  I'm the less creative of my sibling group.  In fact I'm the sister of local filmmaker Brian Spectre, owner of Atlantian Films.  My guess would be seeing him have the film making outlet inspired me. I think trying something new, being creative and taking risks just runs in our blood.  I don't know which of us had such lofty dreams first but I know that I dreamed of writing since I was a little girl. I wanted to write scripts for soap operas as a kid but never attempted anything because I thought people would laugh at me.  Last summer I wrote this whole book on my back deck terrified to tell anyone I dreamed of being published.  Even after getting the contract I kept things quiet for a while. Now I'm more open, even blogging to the world about what I'm up to.  I have received some very positive reviews and am less schizophrenic about my writing.  I admit that as the weather warms I am back on my porch writing the next book in the series.
If you are interested in writing and publishing I can only parrot what has already been said on the subject.  Keep at it and don't quit your day job.  I still work full time but sure hope that the public will buy some books and maybe let me earn enough money to get my daughter that Hello Kitty watch she keeps asking about!  Which brings me to the most important part of this blog, the buy link and blurb for the book.  You can pre-order from here: http://www.lsbooks.com/isabel-s-awakening-p779.php (Isabel's Awakening will also be available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble after 4/22/13).  As always, happy reading!
Blurb:
It’s been five busy years, and Newcastle-born singer/guitarist Thomas Morgan is still punishing himself for his younger brother’s death. Thomas’s young, fashion-model wife once led her husband’s idolizing brother, Chris, into both drugs and an adulterous relationship. The loss of his brother and total destruction of his marriage destroyed Thomas. To avoid entanglements with others, even his young son, Thomas focused on promoting his music and the management of his now highly profitable record company. He thought he had everything at a safe distance, at least until Isabel literally slammed into his life. High school teacher, Isabel Warren, finds herself falling head over heels in love with the sexy-as-sin guitarist for the rock band Becket. Soon Isabel’s orderly world of lesson plans, thesis writing, and student loan debt is competing against desire, passion, and her vulnerable heart. Isabel struggles to navigate her newly stirred passions with her rising academic career and independent nature. As the sex sizzles, the two lovers will have to decide which parts of their dreams they will sacrifice for their fledgling relationship.  Can Thomas ever trust and love again, and will the young woman he meets ever have the confidence and strength to be with him?

About the Author T.D. Hassett grew up reading the romance greats, Jackie Collins, Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught.  She was certain that life should be like a romance novel, lots of passion, some incredible adventures and a guaranteed happily ever after.  She attended college in New England earning a B.A. in history and a M.S. degree in clinical psychology before changing her mind again and studying education.  Currently Ms. Hassett lives in Connecticut with her very patient husband and two young children.  Her rambunctious family shares their home with 3 crazy cats and a darling golden retriever named Delilah.  Her eccentric relatives and their quest to make her feel like the only normal nut in the family tree inspire her writing.
