Summer Reading Kicks Off this Saturday at the Avon Library

Summer Reading Clubs at the Avon Free Public Library- Something for everyone!

The Avon Free Public Library will kick off its annual Summer Reading Clubs this Saturday, June 16th. There's a program for everyone!

This year's Childen's Summer Reading Club, themed "Dream Big, Read!" kicks off with magician Mike Bent and his "Dream Big Magic Show!" at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Children in the local public elementary schools will be receiving their summer reading logs with their end of year report cards and all other children can start to pick up their reading logs anytime on Saturday. Children from age 2 to 6th grade that participate in the summer reading club will earn raffle tickets with each weekly visit to the library. They can use these tickets to enter into our "Mystery Prizes" (announced in August at the Finale). All participants will win a special end of summer prize and each visit to the library is filled with fun treasures and surprises.

The Adult Summer Reading Club, themed, "Between the Covers," kicks off with a "Beach Reads Book Sale" from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. hosted by the wonderful Friends of the Avon Library. Stop by and get your summer reads! Write those titles down and enter them to win some great prizes. Who knows, you could win a night out in town!

The Teen Summer Reading Club, themed, "Own the Night" will be open for students in grades 7-12. These students can begin earning their "library loot" by completing various "jobs" (i.e, reading books, writing reviews, volunteering, etc.). Teens save up all that loot and can use it to bid on *prizes at the finale in August.

The library will also be offering programs all summer that fit these themes. Check out our programs and events at www.avonctlibrary.info.
