Atlantian Films, LLC, a movie production company based in Avon, has opened its first studio in New Hartford.
Avon resident Brian Spectre, owner of the film company, said most of his upcoming feature film Mindscapes will be shot in the Farmington Valley.
“Our goal is to make a full-length feature film at a fraction of the cost a Hollywood studio would do it,” said Spectre. “We intend to eventually hire local people for cast and crew. Our productions should also help local businesses prosper.”
Atlantian Films, LLC will also donate a portion of the film’s profit to several cancer organizations.
“Many of the people working on this film, including myself, have had to deal with the disease on some level,” said Spectre. “We want to give something back to those still struggling.”
Pre-production has been under way for several months on a science fiction film titled “Mindscapes” which the company hopes to release sometime in 2014.
