FOCUS Center for Autism (FOCUS) in Canton has received four grants to support
scholarships and programming for children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum!
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded FOCUS a $39,000 grant to be
awarded over the next three years; the Bissell Foundation granted $10,000 for scholarship
a collaborative panel of experts to travel around the state discussing the issues that face
families with autism; and Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services presented Donna
Swanson, Executive Director of FOCUS, with a check for $10,000 for scholarship aid at the
annual Celebrate FOCUS Dinner on April 27. “These wonderful grants support the work
we do for this special and unique population,” stated Donna Swanson. “We are committed
to providing the best treatment for the Autism Spectrum, whom we like to call ‘creatively
wired and socially challenged.’ Without this kind of support, we cannot continue to grow and
expand our services. Thank you!”
