We at The Meat House are dog lovers. Many of us who work at The Meat House are dog owners and most of our guests are dog lovers and owners too. Dogs are part of
our families and we love to hear stories from our guests about their furry friends.
For the last 3 years we have had our Dog Days of Winter event and where we give free samples of dog food, and free dog bones to our guests for their best friends. This year, we took it up a notch by also collecting donations to benefit the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) of CT. They are a humane, no kill organization, strong advocates of animal protection.
At The Meat House we strive to offer the best meats and we extensively research the farms we work with looking for humane practices. We strongly support humane
treatment of animals and that is why the SPCA is such a great cause for us to support. They help place animals in loving homes and provide care for the sick ones. During this past blizzard, they took in many more animals and have been busy caring for them.
Through our Dog Days of Winter Fundraiser, our guests made generous donations at our store on Route 44. On Feb 18th, the total raised was $400 (plus a last minute extra $25) and we matched the donations and presented Laura Blakely (in photo) from SPCA of CT with a check for $800. With this donation, the SPCA will be able to provide better care for the new animals that have come in as a result of the blizzard and also continue to work towards their goal to build a model, regional, No-Kill Shelter and spay-neuter clinic. We hope that our donation goes a long way and helps extend the care they provide to many more animals in CT.
