Gifts of Love Welcomes Carolyn McGrattan to the Staff!

Avon, CT (February 14, 2013) – Carolyn McGrattan, our new Marketing & Development Director has worked in the Farmington Valley and Greater Hartford area for 25 years and has had a long history of volunteerism during her career. Carolyn serves on the Board of Directors with two Hartford County nonprofit organizations; St. Agnes Family Center in West Hartford and Family Life Education in Hartford, where she chairs the Fitness & Wellness Center Committee.  She’s actively involved in Leadership Greater Hartford; reSET (Social Enterprise Trust) in Farmington; UCONN’s Encore Hartford; Loyola University Parents Council and Women in Leadership and Service. Carolyn worked for 10 years as a volunteer in the Avon public school system, including PTO Outreach Chair at Roaring Brook Elementary, and was a five-time American Red Cross blood drive coordinator.  She was selected by the elementary school administration to serve as Character Education Team Leader.  Carolyn opened an after school teen center for students in 2006, and has been a long time mentor in the Hartford Public Schools and also with Ivy Exec for young career professionals.  She’s proud to be part of the local Abigail Phelps Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to her Marketing and Development role, Carolyn will oversee our Gifts of Love fundraisers and events including Ready, Set, Cook in June and our annual gala in November. Welcome Carolyn!

 

The mission of Gifts of Love is to help meet the basic needs of individuals and families experiencing a temporary financial crisis so they can achieve or maintain self-sufficiency. The organization provides food and clothing, household items and furniture to individuals and families facing a financial crisis due to a variety of circumstances. Gifts of Love helps clients meet their families’ most basic needs – food on the table, a winter coat, or a bed to sleep in – and enable them to focus on putting their lives back in order and regaining their independence.
