Brad Drazen of NBC Connecticut and Andy Katz of ESPN Team Up To Help The Boys & Girls Clubs Of Hartford
Hartford, CT: In an effort to draw attention to the problems facing children living in poverty in Hartford, Brad Drazen of NBC CT and Andy Katz of ESPN have teamed up to create a new event to benefit the work of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford. The event is called Help a Child BE GREAT: A Workout to Benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford presented by Travelers and Comcast and is intended to help with the Clubs' important mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Both Andy and Brad hope to encourage suburban families to support the event in a major way.
The dollars raised from this fun fitness event will be used to fund BGCH’s core areas of focus related to: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and, especially, Healthy Lifestyles, the latter which includes programs such as Healthy Habits, SMART Girls, SMART Moves®, and Triple Play: A Game for Mind, Body & Soul. These programs encourage and empower young people to make positive choices to support and nurture their physical and personal well-being, from good nutrition and exercise to positive relationship-building and stress management.
This great fitness event is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, 2012 and will include hundreds of participants working out at the Mandell Jewish Community Center of Greater Hartford (335 Bloomfield Avenue West Hartford, CT) to raise dollars to support the clubs.
Participants will be able to choose their favorite healthy activity, from running and walking to Spinning, Zumba®, Yoga, swimming and more, all to benefit Hartford’s kids and their great futures. The event will culminate with a basketball-themed event bringing children together from Hartford and the region to cap off a full-court press on fitness!
