AVON HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS REGIONAL MUSIC AUDITIONS – 17 AHS STUDENTS SELECTED

On November 23rd, Avon High School hosted the auditions for the Connecticut Music Education Association’s Northern Region Music Festival.  Approximately 1000 high school music students from the region, including Avon, Burlington, Canton, Farmington, Simsbury and West Hartford, came to Avon High School for these auditions. The day ran very smoothly and was a big success, thanks to the efforts of the Avon High School music faculty, the parent volunteers of Friends of Avon Music Education (FAME), and the students of Avon High School’s Tri M Music Honor Society. In addition to coordinating the auditions throughout the building all day, the volunteers ran a hospitality area for the many judges and a concession area for the visiting students.

Several Avon High School students were selected to participate in the Northern Region Music Festival based on these auditions. Selected for the Northern Region Choir are Sue Cho, Stephanie Evans, Katherine Holobinko, Devon McLane, Stephanie Rosenthal, Spencer Sonnenberg, and Sarah Walters. Selected for the Northern Region Band are Matthew Bagley, Emily Guersch, Jeffrey Lewis, and Courtney Mollo. Selected for the Northern Region Orchestra are Dev Dabke, Pamela Fetzer, Emily Kane, Chenyang Liu, Eric Selzer, and Katherine Stoll.

The Northern Region Music Festival concert will be held on Saturday January 18, 2014 at 5:00 PM at New Britain High School, 110 Mill Street, New Britain, CT.  Tickets are available at the door.
