FARMINGTON FIELD CLUB LOOKS FORWARD TO NEXT 50 YEARS

The Farmington Field Club, the “Hidden Gem of the Farmington Valley” is gearing up for its 51st season, beginning with a cocktail party/informational session on Sunday, March 30 from 5-7 p.m. at a member’s home in Farmington.  Interested families are welcome to attend the event to learn how they can join the unique year-round family recreation facility.

“I cannot imagine a more serene, picturesque setting for families and individuals to gather and enjoy the many yearlong outdoor activities the club has offered for more than 50 years,” said Club President Tom Bissell.  “Tucked away in a quiet and tranquil corner of Historic Farmington Village, the Field Club has provided a welcome oasis away from the rigors of everyday life offering swimming, tennis and paddle tennis, along with professional instruction to anyone interested in learning new skills in the pool or on the court.”

Founded in January 1963 by 10 families who purchased 5.7 acres of land on Hilltop Road from the Trustees of the Hill-Stead Museum.  It opened with a membership of 150 member families in 1964.  Members enjoy two Har-Tru and four red clay tennis courts, three platform tennis (paddle) courts, and three swimming pools (a multi-purpose pool, a diving pool and a children’s wading pool.)  The impeccable landscaping offers a lovely garden area for picnics and club-sponsored parties and events.
