AVON — Gifts of Love, the Avon-based non-profit that helps families through temporary financial rough patches with food, clothing and other staples, has completed its move and is settling into their new location at 34 East Main Street in Avon.
The new 5,000 square foot space is better organized, offers a basement, and keeps the food pantry, clothing, and household goods in one location.
With the help of more than 700 volunteers and many local businesses, the move was completed in four days.
Executive Director Diana Goode reflects on the move, “Gifts of Love is proud to be able to have a permanent home for our clients – it is a really exciting time for us! The Greater Hartford community has been so supportive of our programs and services - we have been able to help more working poor and hidden poor than ever before. The new space will allow us to focus on our services and house all of our program under one roof.”
Local businesses that participated in the move and construction projects included Maher’s Paint & Wallpaper, Franklin Painting, Sanford & Hawley, AllWaste, Valley Community Baptist Church, Bailey Communications, M.D.B. Building, Carpets Plus, Sheryl Maher Custom Draperies, Miner’s Lumber, Service Master, Signs Plus, Onion Electric, Midstate Site Development, Lock, Stock & Barrel Locksmithing, Avon Plumbing & Heating, Imperial Nursery, Burr Landscaping, and Nationwide Moving & Storage.
