Reclaim Your Life With Lunch

Americans – Yankees especially – tend to zip through the day, going through a list of chores, errands, or projects like termites through wood.

When we finally take a moment to pause, we wonder where the week went.

It seems counter-intuitive but, if you want to make more of your time and slow the clock down, you need to waste time.

We recommend lunch at The Grist Mill.

Oh, we know that To Do list will nag at you.  You’ll feel a sense of guilt or, worse, a dread that you’ll be buried under work and lose precious hours off your weekend.

The reality is, when you pay attention to time, and more importantly yourself, you gain a perspective that can whittle down the list in new ways.  One of the most obvious ways is to give yourself permission to ignore the unimportant things that seem very urgent and necessary until you step back.  We find that many people come to this realization when savoring the Signature Rhode Island Calamari.

Another signature dish, The Grist Mill Crab Cakes, will often spark a new interest in delegation.  Seafood is good for the brain and the realization that other people can do a job well – perhaps not perfectly as you would have done but well enough – can give you the joy of taking something off your plate (no pun intended).

A glass of wine may seem sinful at lunch but we invite you to savor the flavors of the grape paired with our unique fries – gorgonzola and sage, truffle oil and parmesan – and a great sandwich.  Or, if your preference is for beer, think of enjoying a glass with our Old Tavern Rueben.

Lunch isn’t a luxury, it’s a gift you give yourself during a day when work, home, friends, and the news of the day are demanding your attention.  Whether you dine with a coworker, buddy, family member, or just yourself, it’s going to make your day much, much better.
