State Rep. Tim LeGeyt Speaks With Residents During Office Hours

AVON/CANTON- As part of ongoing bi-monthly “Office Hour” events, State Rep. Tim LeGeyt (R-17) met and spoke with residents of Avon and Canton during the month of February.

Rep. LeGeyt hosted the first evening office hours event on February 26th at McDonald’s, 220 Albany Tpke., Canton, and a morning office hours event on February 27th at Bruegger’s Bagels, 45 East Main St., Avon.  Rep. LeGeyt listened to the concerns of residents on state issues and local concerns as the current legislative session of the General Assembly is under way.

Residents spoke with Rep. LeGeyt on a variety of issues that they would like to see the legislature address in the coming 2014 session, including support for the proposed ‘Aid in Dying’ bill, and also the issue of the popular vote vs. the electoral vote, both of which are  in the legislative process this session.  Also discussed were concerns regarding services for individuals with mental health issues, including accessibility and advocacy.  Other residents discussed support for a bill that seeks to address the issue of sexual assault on college campuses.

‘In direct response to feedback from my constituents, I was pleased to offer both evening and morning office hours this month, in hopes of giving residents more flexibility in their schedule to meet with me.  I thank those that took time from their day to come and speak with me about what concerns them,’ said LeGeyt.  ‘I look forward to continuing with both morning and evening office hours, in trying to provide convenient timeframes for my constituents to come and talk with me.  With this being a short legislative session having many contentious issues being debated, it is important that I am available to my constituents and hear about their thoughts and concerns.’

LeGeyt will continue to host monthly Office Hours in March throughout Avon and Canton.  Further details to be released.
