State Senator Kevin Witkos and State Representative Bill Simanski Host Town Hall Forum on Affordable Care Act

New Hartford – State Senator Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) and State Representative Bill Simanski (R-Granby) will host a forum on the Affordable Care Act on Wednesday October 23 at 6:00pm in the Ann Antolini School Auditorium located at 30 Antolini Road New Hartford, CT.  Presented in conjunction with Demian Fontanella, General Counsel at Connecticut Office of the Healthcare Advocate, the town hall style meeting will provide an open forum for residents to discuss their questions concerning the Affordable Care Act with their local legislators.

“We are hosting this forum to help our constituents better understand what the Affordable Care Act is and what it means for them and their families,” said Senator Witkos. “Since Connecticut’s health insurance marketplace opened earlier this month, many people have questions about whether or not they should be looking at new insurance. Our goal is to help the public understand the new legislation and services, enabling them to make the best decisions when it comes to healthcare.”

Representative Simanski will lead the discussion alongside Senator Witkos. “The rolling out of the Affordable Care Act and Connecticut’s new health exchange has left many families and small business owners feeling overwhelmed, wondering how their health insurance plans are going to be affected by the new changes,” said Representative Simanski. “This forum is a great opportunity for those who have any questions regarding the new health insurance laws, to join us for an open, informative discussion.”

Demian Fontanella, representing the Connecticut Office of the Healthcare Advocate, will provide a presentation covering the following topics:

-         How the Affordable Care Act will impact individuals

-         Basic access questions and concerns

-         First steps to sign up for coverage in the state’s health insurance exchange

Senator Witkos and Representative Simanski will moderate the forum and help explain initial navigation through Access Health CT.
