50th Anniversary of Vietnam War: Library and VFW to Host Veteran Talk

The veteran talk starts Wednesday at 7 p.m.

“Ambush Alley”: A Company Commander Remembers His Soldiers, Convoys and Gun Trucks – Vietnam Veteran Talk at the Avon Public Library, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 @ 7:00 pm - The Avon Public Library & VFW Post 3272 continues its commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War with a talk by Bill Newman, historian of Post 3272.  Bill will present his personal experiences as a commander of a combat support company with extensive convoys in the Central Highlands in 1966.  The program is free and open to the public. Students welcome.

The public is also invited to view the gallery exhibit, “Our Service In Vietnam: In Our Own Words”, featuring a display of over 30 personal histories and photos of Vietnam veterans from Avon and surrounding towns.  “Our Service In Vietnam: In Our Own Words” will be on display through December 31, 2013 in the Library Gallery during regular library hours.  Students and families are welcome.  The Avon Public Library is at 281 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001.  For more information, call the library 860 673 9712 or view www.avonctlibrary.info.
