Video: Avon and Farmington Valley Residents Celebrate National Day of Prayer

On Thursday, Avon and region residents from all faiths gathered to pray and have lunch on the Avon Town Green.

Avon and Farmington Valley residents from different faiths gathered on the Avon Town Green Thursday for a day of prayer and community spirit. President Barack Obama proclaimed the first Thursday in May a National Day of Prayer and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy also recognized the declaration on behalf of the state. In addition to general prayers, there were also prayers said for Obama and Malloy, and Town Council members Pamela Samul and William Shea read their offical statements about the day. Avon has hosted the ceremony for several years on the green.

Check back later for a video of the event. Feel free to add photos to the gallery.
