Avon in Photos: Why Did the Wild Turkey Cross the Road?

That is a question many motorists are asking about wild turkeys on Avon roads lately.

A few months ago, Avon Patch readers began a conversation on our Facebook page about a common experience: a wild turkey crossed into their path at a stop sign, blocking traffic and sometimes even pecking at cars.

Avon reader Shari Nastri reported this happening to her on March 2 on Talcott Notch Road and submitted a photo to us that you can view in the above gallery. Most recently another reader caught it on video and posted it on the Avon Patch Facebook page.

Another Avon resident, Marcia Duggan Wells, said that a wild turkey has been a frequent visitor to her Whispering Pines home this spring.

Have you had an encounter with a wild turkey or another wild animal lately? Tell us about it in the comments! Send your photos to Jessie.Sawyer@patch.com.
