Avon to Host Energy Presentation Monday

Presentation will detail programs available to help residents reduce energy cost and consumption.

The Town of Avon will host a presentation Monday evening at the Avon Free Public Library to help residents and business owners learn how to cut their electric bills by cutting down on their energy consumption.

The program is part of the Clean Energy Communities program, in which municipalities commit to reducing municipal building energy consumption by 20 percent by 2018, and to voluntarily purchase 20 percent of its municipal electrical needs from renewable sources by 2018, according to the website. In exchange, the program provides clean-energy incentives and grants. Avon is one of 60 towns that signed the pledge.

Monday, representatives from CL&P and Energy Efficiencies Solutions will give a presentation on the energy-saving and renewable energy programs available to residents and business owners.

Following the presentation, residents will have the opportunity to ask questions. Refreshments will be served.
