Avon Memorial United Methodist Church took in 2,498 pumpkins to sell at its annual pumpkin patch this year.
That's 45,000 pounds of pumpkin.
"We're known as the pumpkin church around here, the Farmington Valley," church member Linda Kime said Friday.
Drive down the portion of West Avon Road that stretches into Unionville and you'll see the familiar orange of the pumpkin patch late September and October annually. The church has done the pumpkin patch for at least eight years.
The church orders the pumpkins through Pumpkins USA and they come from New Mexico.
Kime said that the church enjoys doing the pumpkin patch because it's geared toward families and children.
The pumpkins range in price from little ones at 75 cents to $20 for the largest pumpkins.
Church member also made pumpkin bread to sell for $4 to $6.
The proceeds benefit the church.
MUMC's pumpkin patch will be open noon to 6 p.m. daily until Halloween.
On Oct. 19, the patch will open at 11 a.m. for the annual fall festival, which will have many children's activities like painting, crafts, a mini hayride, a moon bounce and live music.
