Explore Historical Avon This Summer

The Avon Historical Society's properties around Avon are open every Sunday through the summer.

With the summer sun comes summer opening hours for the Avon Historical Society’s properties. Residents and vacationers can now enjoy the sites every Sunday through September from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Open properties include:

  • The 1810 Derrin farmhouse at 249 West Avon Road. Visitors can see how an early farm family loved.

  • The 1865 Pine Grove Schoolhouse on the corner of Harris Road and West Avon Road. The school house has a new informational kiosk thanks to the hard work of Ryan Tyler, who is soon to be an Eagle Scout from Troop 274. The kiosk was designed to blend into its surroundings and offer visitors a sense of time and place.

  • Other Avon Historical Society properties include Schoolhouse No. 3 in West Avon.
