Cold Returns, 7 Days Till Spring

Weather forecasts are calling for a wintry mix that could complicate travel late Wednesday into Thursday, according to meteorologist Gil Simmons.

Temperatures were forecast to drop quickly Wednesday night, Meteorologist Gil Simmons reported. Combined with periods of rain, roadways could be slick and car doors and locks may freeze, he warned.

Simmons cautioned people to give themselves extra time when traveling Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Depending on what county you live in, temperatures will drop below freezing at different times throughout the night.

If you live in Litchfield County, temperatures were forecast to fall around 10 p.m. Wednesday night, Simmons said. In New London County, Simmons said temperatures may not drop below freezing until 3 or 4 a.m. early Wednesday morning.

There's a chance of snow showers over the course of Wednesday into Thursday and some areas of the state could see up to two inches, according to the National Weather Service.
