Old Farms Road Closure Schedule

Old Farms Road in Avon will reopen at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday and close again for a period over the next couple days during scheduled maintenance.

Paul Welsh, Avon Public Works highway foreman, wrote in an e-mail to Avon Patch that the road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Drivers can access the road from the Waterville Road end up until Tillotson, but the Old Farms is closed from that intersection to Thompson Road.

Public Works is upgrading two small bridges in that section that have been hit by cars in the past, Welsh previously said. There is also tree work that needs to be done in that area, he said.

Crews will also be replacing damaged guardrail poles and pulling back brush, Public Works Director Bruce Williams told Patch last week.
