Police Warn Residents of Hartford County Armed Robberies

Avon's neighbor, the town of Simsbury, issued a citizen alert Friday warning area residents of a series of armed robberies that have occured in Hartford County.

Suspects wearing baseball caps and hooded sweatshirts and at least one shotgun have committed armed robberies in several towns over the past two weeks, police said.

The robberies have occurred at gas stations, convenience stores, and take-out restaurants.

Police have no reason to suspect an armed robbery will occur in Simsbury, according to a statement. But police are asking business owners to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity.
