VIDEO: Thankful for Pilgrim Corey

Avon-Canton Animal Control Officer Beverly LaPlume talks about her canine sidekick terrier mix.

Some teenagers in Hartford were trying to run Corey, a terrier mix, over when he was rescued.

Avon-Canton Animal Control Officer Beverly LaPlume happened to be at the vet that day when he was brought in.

When she heard what had happened to him, she said right away that she'd adopt him.

He has become her sidekick, riding with her wherever she goes in the animal control vehicle.

Sometimes, he is a comfort to loose dogs that LaPlume is trying to pick up and when she takes him outside, they come to her more easily.

LaPlume said she is thankful for Corey, or Pilgrim Corey as he is known around the holiday as he walks around in his pilgrim costume and hat.
