WFSB-TV Won’t Get Proposed Avon Mountain Weather Radar

Meeting of the planning and zoning commission last night voted 6-1 against the plan.

WFSB-TV's plan to put a Doppler weather radar system on Avon Mountain was turned down by the town’s planning and zoning commission Tuesday evening, The Courant reports.

Following three meetings on the proposal this month, the commission voted 6-1 that the radar’s impact on the community would be too harmful.

WFSB had its Doppler system on Avon mountain until some time in the 1970’s, The Courant reports, but now residents have fiercely opposed the proposal.
