Art Show-Food Tasting-Wine Tasting

Avon, CT – The Investors Center, Inc. of Avon will feature the paintings of Nancy Morrell, a wine tasting by CT Wine, and a food tasting on Wednesday, September 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is free to the public. Morrell, a West Hartford resident, has been painting on canvas since 2002. Self-taught the first year, she subsequently studied with Ilona Levitz, Frank Federico, Robert Noreika, Catherine Elliott, Jim Grabowski, Shira Avidor, Shauna Shane and Joan Jardine at the West Hartford Art League. Additionally, she completed workshops with Henry Finkelstein and the Lyme Art Academy, portrait and plein air painting with Diane Aeschliman, and landscapes with David Suller at the Lyme Art Association.

An extensive traveler, Morrell’s work is greatly influenced by international experiences, visits to the world’s great art museums, and scenes from her immediate surroundings. Her work often depicts nature, and her technique incorporates use of color and light.

Morrell has exhibited in juried art shows at the New Britain Museum of American Art and the West Hartford Art League. Other showings include the Town and County Club, the Pond House in Elizabeth Park, the Simsbury Library, and Unitarian Meeting House, Seasons Restaurant at the Avon Old Farms Hotel, Seabury Retirement Community, Duncaster Retirement Community, and the Salmon Falls Artisans Showroom in Massachusetts. Her work can be found in private collections throughout the east coast as well as Arizona, New Mexico, and the state of Washington.
