Art Show - Food & Wine Tasting

THE INVESTORS CENTER, INC. HOSTS ART EXHIBIT, WINE AND FOOD TASTING

Avon, CT – The Investors Center, Inc. of Avon will feature “California and the West,” including an art show featuring the photography of Hartford resident Flora Parisky, a wine tasting by CT Wine of Avon, and a food tasting on Wednesday, September 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is free to the public. To attend, call Kathi Boratko at (860) 677-8808 or E-mail kathib@theinvestorscenter.com by Friday, September 7. The photographs will remain on display through early December.

Parisky has been taking fine art photographs of travels in Europe, western United States, the Caribbean and China since 1962 with standard SLR cameras and sometimes – acceding to the philosophy that “the best camera is the one you have with you” – her iPhone. Many of her photographs have appeared in juried shows and exhibits sponsored by the West Hartford and Windsor Art Leagues. Her photographs were included in the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011  CT +5 and CT +6 juried exhibitions open to artists in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and New York. A triptych of iPhone photos taken on the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park won honorable mention in the 2010 Exposures Annual Open Juried Photography Exhibit. She was chosen as an Elected Artist to the West Hartford Art League in 2010. She is a founding member of Visions: a gallery without walls.

Her work is being featured at a show called “The Water’s Edge” at The Gallery in Firehouse Square in New London, CT through September 29 and “Hartford Then and Now” at the Mark Twain Museum Center through October 9. She was part of a two-person gallery exhibit at the Sandisfield Arts Center in the Berkshires in July.

The photos in “California and the West” represent a special collection that dates from the mid-1960s to images shot on the Eastern face of the High Sierras during the spring of 2012.
