THE INVESTORS CENTER, INC. HOSTS ART EXHIBIT, WINE AND FOOD TASTING

To attend, call Kathi Boratko at (860) 677-8808 or E-mail kathib@theinvestorscenter.com by Friday,
June 3. The photographs will remain on display through early September.

Carlton Taylor has actively taken pictures ever since acquiring his first "serious" camera back in college. For years, he pursued it as an avocation, fitting it in while enjoying a lengthy insurance industry career, raising a family, and establishing a Christmas tree farm.  In 2005 Carlton retired, and what had been a very part-time hobby became a primary activity or calling. His work has been accepted into a number of juried shows, garnered several awards, and now resides in many private collections. Recently Carlton and his wife Carol, an accomplished artist, established an art barn gallery on their New Hartford property, Birches Pond Farm.

The focus of Carlton's camera has been varied, dictated more by the opportunity to take pictures than by a specific theme or subject. Many years of photos taken on vacations or business trips were filed in anticipation of the day when they might become finished prints.  A “new” print might be one that came from a negative taken twenty years ago. While Carlton originally worked with film, using chemicals and paper to develop negatives in makeshift darkrooms, he now embraces the digital age. Though the possibilities are endless, he is not one to do much manipulation. He enjoys doing black and white digitally, while leaving selective bits of color from the original scene in the photo. The result can be both fun and stunning. Classic photographs, shown as taken, will always be favorites, too.

Pastels Catering, located in Simsbury, has enjoyed resounding and continual success for over 25 years. From the expected to the exotic, the familiar to the flamboyant, the traditional to the trendy, the staff caters to both corporate and social events, using the freshest seasonal ingredients with a special eye toward presentation.
