Art Show/Food & Wine Tasting

The Investors Center, Inc. of Avon will feature the paintings of Sharon Farber, a wine tasting by CT Wine, and a food tasting on Tuesday, December 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is free to the public. To attend, call Kathi Boratko at (860) 677-8808 or E-mail kathib@theinvestorscenter.com by Friday,
December 2. The paintings will remain on display through early March.

Farber, a Barkhamsted resident, earned a BA in sociology with honors from The University of Massachusetts. After several years as a social worker, she became a massage therapist and healer, creating and operating the Avon Massage Therapy Center for over twenty years. Farber attests that her artistic passion awakened several years ago while painting with her young daughter. Her husband presented her with her first paint supplies as a gift. “I had no idea what to do with tube paints and almost returned them,” says Farber. “Instead, I took a watercolor class and my life changed forever. I discovered a passion for painting that I had no idea existed.”

Now an award winning-artist who exhibits extensively, she is a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society and the New Hartford Art League. She paints watercolor landscapes of nature, wildlife, oceans, flowers, farms and all that she finds beautiful. She also paints house and pet portraits and teaches watercolor classes and lessons. The most frequent comments about her art are, “That’s a watercolor?” and, “I thought it was a photograph!” This reflects upon the bright colors and intense details found in her paintings. She achieves this effect by using small pointed brushes and more paint and less water than most. For more information, please visit www.paintedpath.com.
