Bid to Boost the Farmington Valley Arts Center

More than 40 items--from original works of art to indulgent day spa packages--are up for bid as the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) in Avon hosts a Silent Auction beginning Saturday, July 16, at noon and closing on Saturday, August 6, at 4 p.m. Bidders will have the opportunity not only to score deals on everything from gifts to golf outings but to help sustain this 35-year-old non-profit community arts organization.

"Thanks to the support of local businesses, the Farmington Valley Arts Center has dozens of fantastic items to auction to the highest bidder," said the organization's President, Roy David. Visitors can view available auction items and enter their bids during regular hours at the Arts Center's retail shop, the Esther Drezner Visitors' Gallery, or by appointment. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.

Featured silent auction items include:

- Golf for four at Avon's Farmington Woods Golf Club
- An overnight stay at the Marriott Residence Inn in Avon
- A hand-painted silk kite
- A basket of treats from Avon's Brownstone Bakery for Dogs
- A signature facial, deep conditioning treatment, blow dry styling and make-up application at Gallery Salon in Farmington.

Winning bidders will be contacted to arrange pick-up or delivery during the week of August 8. Bidding begins at half each donation's retail value, and bidders who offer 90 percent or more of an item's value may immediately complete their purchase.

The Farmington Valley Arts Center is located at 25 Arts Center Lane in Avon Park North, Avon, Connecticut. From Route 44, turn onto Ensign Drive, and Arts Center Lane is the second left. For additional auction details, visit www.artsfvac.org or call 860-678-1867.
