Meditations: Paintings by Patricia Cousins

Meditations, an exhibition of paintings by West Hartford resident and FVAC winter term Artist in Residence Patricia Cousins, runs through March 30 in the Esther Drezner Visitors' Gallery at the Farmington Valley Arts Center. Cousins works with encaustics, a process that involves fusing layers of pigmented wax with flame or a heat gun.

These new works, from small blocks to wall-sized pieces, reflect Cousins' evolving interest in the practice of meditation. "This work is my personal practice," she says. "My paintings are not representational but reflect my meditative interpretation of the world—observed from the inside out."
