Spring Open House at FVAC
The Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) hosts a Spring Open House on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arts Center’s campus in Avon, Connecticut. The free event features "Art on the Line," a new Fisher Gallery exhibition featuring works on paper suspended from clotheslines. These ready-to-frame original drawings, paintings, prints, photos and mixed media pieces by Connecticut artists interpret the theme, "Home," in diverse and thoughtful ways.
In addition, visitors can meet more than a dozen FVAC artists at home in their studios, including printmaker, sculptor and jewelry designer Beth Uryase (Studio 7A), who was selected as 2011's first artist in residence via a competitive juried process. Uryase studied in Hawaii, and her intricate, fluid prints are inspired by nature, particularly microbiological cellular imagery.
The Spring Open House is also an ideal time to shop for finely crafted Mother's Day cards and gifts in the FVAC's Visitors' Gallery. Retail sales support this non-profit cultural center, which provides arts-related programs and opportunities for thousands in Connecticut each year.
