Let Your Inner Spielberg Out

Farmington Valley Film Commission holds contest.

Student filmmakers are encouraged to create a promotional ad for the Farmington Valley as part of a contest sponsored by the Farmington Valley Film Commission.

Show what makes the Farmington Valley a great place by creating an original, live action, or animated promotional ad, 30 to 90 seconds in length.

Submission deadline is April 22, 2011. The winning ads will be showcased on the film commission's website.

The Grand Prize: A VIP pass to a film set in the Farmington Valley, a feature on the FVFC website, and a screening at the second annual FVFC Film Fete & Mixer.

Runner Up: A mention about your film on the FVFC website.

Participation Prize: each entrant’s name and school will be listed on the FVFC website.

All awards and decisions of the FVFC are final. Winners will be notified by telephone and announced on the FVFC website.

No DVD will be returned. No “Copyrighted” material accepted. The State of Connecticut 30 percent tax credit may apply.

The Farmington Valley Film Commission is a group of local industry professionals, writers, public relations staff, filmmakers, graphic designers and many more, all volunteering their time to facilitate the production of film, television, commercial and advertising in the Farmington Valley. The FVFC is a part of the Farmington Valley Visitors Association.

The hope is that this annual contest will encourage young filmmakers promote the Farmington Valley as a site for more film production, and enhance the economic environment for local businesses in Avon, Burlington, Canton, East Granby, Farmington, Granby, New Hartford and Simsbury.

Entry requirements: The contest is open to middle school and high school students. A completed entry form must accompany each DVD video submission.
