Avon Booster Club Pays Out Big

Avon, CT – The Avon Booster Club paid out big this month awarding nearly $17,000.00 to Avon High School’s various sports teams for requested capital purchases.  An impressive 80% of Avon High School students participate in athletic programs, and the Avon Booster Club generously funds the purchase of critical equipment and resources for their teams.  In these lean times, coaches and athletes have come to rely on the Booster Club’s generosity to provide essentials not covered by the budget or ‘pay to play’ fees.  For example, the club voted on March 10th to fund the purchase of goals for the boys lacrosse team, a pole vault mat for co-ed track, team sideline seating for the girls volleyball team, two GPS units and two waterproof cameras for co-ed crew, and a new scoreboard for the town’s Buckingham Park, where the varsity baseball team plays.  (The club awarded $5,000.00 toward the purchase of a new softball scoreboard at Fisher Meadows last year).

“The Booster Club is much more than a spirit organization here at Avon High; it is a critical partner. We really rely on them,” says long-time coach, Marty Delivron.  For more information about the Avon Booster Club, please visit www.avonboosterclub.org.
