It was a great night for Falcon soccer fans who were treated to a 3-0 shut-out in the first game of the Spirit Week line-up. The team's defense, led by senior co-captain Jared Rosenblatt, held back Ellington's shooters; the midfield, led by senior co-captain Sean Janson, maintained excellent control of the ball; and in the front, senior co-captain Bobby Zaino really used his head. Zaino scored all three of Avon's goals on headers - two from Rosenblatt's corner kicks and one from sophomore Riley Strassner's huge throw-in.
The boys played the game in honor of AMS Physical Education teacher, Colleen Martin, who died last week after a brief illness. Approximately $500 was raised for cancer research through food sales and donations.
Next up for Falcon Spirit Week is Girls' Volleyball, tonight at 6:30 in the AHS Gym.
