Five Avon Residents Inducted Into Language Honor Societies

Five Avon residents were among the 27 students inducted into Northwest Catholic High School’s World Language Honor Societies on May 21. Those students are Meredith Davenport ’15 and James Jordano ’15 (French); Kyle Brooks ’15 (Latin); and Jessica Jordano ’15 and Caitlin Nicholas ’15 (Spanish).

Guest speaker John Cusson, Northwest Catholic’s Academic Dean, told the students, “Your language skills give you unique opportunities to learn about other countries.” Cusson urged the new inductees to “use your language gifts to open windows to the world.”

To qualify for membership, students had to be juniors or seniors carrying a 4.0 average in the language they study, as well as a minimum 3.0 average in all other classes. Of the 27 inductees, 16 were inducted into the Spanish Honor Society, six into the Latin Honor Society, and five into the French Honor Society.

A complete list of students is available at www.northwestcatholic.org.

Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’18 is now under way. For more information, contact Andrew Selig (860-236-4221, x140 or aselig@nwcath.org).
