Kathy Zirolli, Board of Education candidate for Avon

Kathy Zirolli, Avon Republican incumbent candidate for Board of Education, demonstrates the experience and firm grasp of important school issues to Deliver Results that make Avon’s exceptional schools nationally recognized.

The past few years, we have continued to provide excellent education in a safe environment, all within reasonable budget increases under 3%. I believe we can become even more cost efficient by seeking to consolidate certain town and BOE administrative areas. As chair of the BOE’s Finance committee, I’ve advocated the BOE’s review of consolidation opportunities. With potential consolidation savings, as well as projected reduced enrollment, I will continue to prioritize these savings be redeployed for our students, (e.g., offering internships, additional elective courses, such as information technology, health sciences, etc.).

Also, I believe we can proactively prepare for decreased enrollment by reviewing our organization structure when employee attrition occurs.

We face the challenge of educating our students for a global workforce, and, perhaps, for future jobs not yet created. I believe it is critical to enhance our world language offerings and to continue to add diverse electives at our high school, to ensure our students are college and career ready. I believe we must also better support those students who elect to study a trade.

With your support, I will continue to deliver on my promises, by working collaboratively with the full BOE, Avon’s school administration, and town elected members. It has been my privilege to serve you these past four years, and I respectfully request your vote on November 5th.
