Connecticut Online Computer Center, an Avon-based company that specializes in banking technology and service, announced this week that the company has reached a deal that will bring its headquarters to the former site of The Hartford in Southington on Executive Boulevard.
The deal, which closed for $2 million in the old office space located just off of Interstate 84 and West Street, will bring the company as well as approximately hundred jobs including 25 to 30 new jobs to town over the course of the next year, according to HartfordBusiness.com.
Representatives of the company confirmed Tuesday that will serve as home of the company’s call center, research and development department and corporate offices.
Southington Economic Development Coordinator Louis Perillo III told the Record-Journal Tuesday that the move is a major win for the town of Southington and could mean great things for development along the West Street corridor.
“We’re very excited,” said Louis Perillo, III, the town’s economic development coordinator. “Being such a good company that the COCC is, we’re hoping that is helps the other two buildings.”
Connecticut Online Computer Center first opened its doors in 1967 and currently operates from its central offices on Darling Drive in Avon. The company has expanded in recent years and now employs more than 400 people, according to its website.
The company website also lists the following information regarding its services:

Richard Leone, chief executive officer of the COCC, said the company’s decision was made based on location. The Southington site is near I-84 with easy access to both Interstate 91 and Route 8 and s only a short distance from the existing campus, which will remain in operation even after the move.
The company also saw Southington as a place that is central to its existing clients and a town where it could receive support from the community, Leone said in an interview with HartfordBusiness.com:
"Local support and training is key," Leone said. "It also gets our people into the banks and credit unions we service to form personal relationships."
The move is slated to happen next year with operations fully functional on Executive Boulevard by November 2013.
