The latest Avon business news.

What's going on in the Avon business world?

Here's a taste of the happenings in the business community:

  • The Local Grill is planning on moving into the former Trattoria Il Trullo and Papacelle space at Riverdale Farms Shopping. It will have the same Class III restaurant distinction as the previous one, so no site plan applications to the Avon Planning and Zoning Commission will be necessary, according to planning officials.
  • Debra Wells will soon be opening a Rita's Italian Ice in Building 4 at Riverdale Farms, according to the company website
  • The Avon Planning and Zoning Commission has granted the Capitol Region Education Council another three years of using 20 Security Drive for a new pre-K to fifth grade arts elementary school after Reggio Magnet School of the Arts moves out in January 2014. The Academy of the Arts Elementary School has been outgrowing its current space in Bloomfield, Executive Director Bruce Douglas said.
  • The commission also approved a new senior living facility for 117 and 121 Simsbury Road in Avon Park South called LCB Living.
