Avon Hops on Frozen Yogurt Bandwagon As sweetFrog Eyes Dale Corner Space

Avon could soon have two frozen yogurt places readying to move in as summer approaches if the Planning and Zoning Commission permits Sweet Frog Premium Frozen to move in.

With Yogurt Fantazy preparing to open at 51 East along Route 44, a second frozen yogurt store is looking to move in down the street.

sweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt is one of two Class III restaurants that the Shops at Dale Corner, LLC is asked the Planning and Zoning Commission to approve Tuesday. The commission tabled the application to its next meeting.

If approved, sweetFrog would occupy half of the former Strawberry Records space. The 365 West Main St. plaza also houses Cosi, Pier 1 Imports and Rite Aid.

sweetFrog has seven location in Connecticut, including West Hartford Center, and has three other planned openings in the state, according to its website.

The property owner is also asking the commission for permission to allow Moe's Southwest Grill to move into the other half of the space.

The project would include renovations to the parking lot, sidewalk and lighting.
