Colony Grill Moving in Former 99 Restaurant Space

The restaurant, which has other locations in Fairfield and Stamford, will just be serving pizza.

A new pizza place is moving into the former 99 Restaurant and Pub space at Nod Brook Mall, following approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission to have a Class III restaurant at the establishment.

"The Colony Grill being proposed for the Avon area will be run and furnished identical to the two other existing restaurants located in Fairfield and Stamford, Ct.," Ed Tessier, of Colony Grill, wrote in a letter to Linda Sadlon, of the town of Avon's office of planning and community development.

Tessier described the establishment as a "essentially a pizza restaurant with a full liquor license and is run as a family business."

Colony Grill will be the third restaurant to go into the location in Nod Brook Mall, following 99 Restaurant's closure. On the Border, a Mexican restaurant, was the first. The move will also make Colony Grill the second pizza business in the plaza, the other being West Avon Pizza.

While the restaurant will only serve pizza to start, Tessier wrote in the letter that more food items may be added to the menu if necessary in the future, like salads or sandwiches. However, Colony Grill has not done this at its other locations, so Tessier doesn't expect there will be more than pizza served at the new Avon site.

The hours of operation of the other two Colony Grill establishments are 11 a.m. until midnight on Sunday through Thursday, open until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, which will most likely be the same in Avon.
