For most of September and October, it has been dark at Hessian Lion in Avon.
That left many locals wondering if the Route 44 bar had closed its doors.
But a Facebook message posted on Hessian Lion's page Oct. 8 says otherwise.
"Hello everybody, sorry we've been away so long, but we're back and things are rolling again," the Facebook message stated. "The Hessian Lion should be reopened in the next few weeks. We'll keep you all posted. Shooting to be opened again by October 20, when we have Shakedown scheduled to be playing. See you all soon."
That news left many patrons ecstatic.
"Ive been sitting out at the picnic table every night just hoping, hoping," Facebook user Schmawy Everett posted that evening.
Facebook user Michele Woodward commented under the post that she "was just talking with Leslie about that! Where have you been ? [sic]"
Another Facebook user said she was looking forward to the reopening.
"You made us a little nervous! Glad to see the doors are opening again soon. Can't wait to see y'all now that we live MUCH closer!" Emilee Dery wrote on Hessian Lion's Facebook page.
The band scheduled to play on Saturday is Shakedown, according to the Facebook post.
