Last Chance: Holy Week and Easter in Avon

There are many ways to celebrate Easter, and here are some highlights of church services and events going on in Avon this weekend.

Good Friday, April 6

• at at noon. The church is located on 280 Country Club Rd.

• at at 3 p.m. The church is located on 867 West Avon Rd.

• Morning prayers at the at 289 Arch Rd. will start at 9 a.m., followed by Liturgy Lords Passion at 3 p.m., according to the church website.

• From 9 a.m.to 9 p.m. the sanctuary will be open for prayer and meditation, according to its website. At 7:30 p.m., there will be worship with the Office of Tenebrae. The church is located at 224 Lovely St.

• This isn't Easter-related, but don't forget that at at 10 a.m. Our advertising manager Kaushik Makati will also be there. Stop by to say hello, ask questions and pitch story ideas. LaSalle is located at 104 Main St. in Collinsville.

• If your way of celebrating Good Friday is doing good deeds, there is a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the headquarters at 25 Darling Dr.

Easter Sunday, April 8

• at 6 a.m. at West Avon Congregational Church. 

• The family worship services are scheduled for 9 and 11 a.m. There will be hot cross buns served between services. After each, there will be Easter egg hunts for the kids.

• There will be an at Memorial United at 8:30 a.m., followed by brunch at 9:30 a.m. Children from 3-year-olds to sixth-graders can participated in a 10 a.m. Easter egg hunt. Another worship service follows at 10:30 a.m.

• The St. Matthew Lutheran Church "Festive Eucharist" is scheduled for 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m.

• An Easter vigil at The Church of Saint Ann is scheduled for 8 p.m.

• at will be open for Easter brunch at 10 a.m. The restaurant is located at 279 Avon Mountain Rd.
