LCB Senior Living, LLC broke ground on a new assisted living facility on Simsbury Road in Avon Tuesday.

The site at 117 Simsbury Rd., a former dairy farm across from the Riverdale Farms Shopping Center, will become The Residence at Brookside, a 74-apartment complex specializing in "independent, assisted and memory care residence for seniors," according to a press release.

Several staff members from LCB Senior Living, Avon town officials and Chamber of Commerce representatives were in attendance.

“Avon is an ideal location for this community, and we’re very fortunate to have found a site that is so well-situated to the many amenities,” LCB Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Stoller said. ”We’re very much looking forward to becoming a vibrant asset to the Town and its local seniors.”

The Residence at Brookside will provide independent living residents an apartment complete with kitchenette and bath, "along with the peace of mind of 24-hour security, three gourmet meals prepared and served restaurant style on-site, available laundry and cleaning services, a full activities program, building and grounds maintenance, and a host of optional services," according to a press release from the company.
