'LUSH' to Open at Westfarms in Early 2013

The British-based cosmetics company will open its first area store in the first quarter of 2013.

 

The British cosmetics company LUSH, described as "fresh, fruity, and fun," plans to open its first Central Connecticut store in early 2013, according to a release from Westfarms Mall management.

LUSH, which was founded in Poole, Dorset, England in 1995, currently has three other stores in the state – Danbury, Trumbull, and Mohegan Sun. There are more than 100 store in the U.S., and over 700 worldwide, according to the LUSH website.

A company brochure refers to LUSH as "the ultimate beauty delicatessen," with product names and store designs resembling fresh produce. The brand specializes in "ethical bath and body products that are minimally packaged and loaded with fresh ingredients." The company's products include fragrances, skin and hair care, and bath and body treats, made with a combination of essential oils, organic fruits and vegetables, and "sustainably sourced ingredients."

LUSH is opposed to animal testing and has a strong "green" policy which includes production and package, according to its website.

LUSH will join several other new brands that have just opened or plan to open shortly at Westfarms. Pinkberry and The Art of Shaving opened this fall, and Tory Burch will make its area debut in early 2013.
