New Restaurant Could Be Coming Soon to Riverdale Farms

The Local Grill is planning to move into the former Trattoria Il Trullo space.

A new restaurant might be opening by early fall in a Riverdale Farms Shopping space in Avon previously occupied by two Italian restaurants.

The Local Grill would offer a different style of cuisine from the Italian fare of the former occupants Trattoria Il Trullo and Papacelle. According to correspondence with Avon Town Planner Steven Kushner, owner Mark Resnisky wrote that he plans on serving "progressive American style foods with a full liquor bar."

Restaurant hours, including lunch and dinner, would run from 11:30 a.m. to midnight seven days a week, Resnisky said in his letter to Kushner. There also would be happy hour specials. He is aiming to open between August and September.

The restaurant may host solo or duo acoustic or jazz music performances occasionally.

The clientele will likely range in age from 21 to 70 and Resnisky expects his restaurant will draw "young professionals, families and empty nesters."

While Resnisky said he does not plan on doing any construction or expansion on the existing building, he said the restaurant will need a "face lift" including "painting and shelving." He doesn't anticipate increasing seating or parking spaces.

Just like Papacelle and Trattoria Il Trullo, he said that he plans on using the patio, acknowledging that "noise levels" should not "disturb the neighboring residential area."
